Photos from Gambell.

from the shores of Gambell
this is the church we stayed in

Matt preached one Sunday morning!

this is Clara, my adopted Yupik Grandma...(although no one compares to my real Grandma!)

I loved listening to Clara's stories. This is a picture of her at a young age, and the ring was the wedding band her husband made for her out of nickels. He went on to be with the Lord.

Matt and I frequently went to a daily lunch served to the respected elders. This is Bernice! The joy of the Lord shines from her face!

The people live on the land and the sea. This is a reminder of God's provision! It is the jaw bone of a whale from a previous years hunt.

The men are whale watching, ready to hunt!
this is the boat they prefer to hunt these huge animals in. It is a basic boat covered with female walrus hide and painted... they sail in these and also use alumunum boats during the hunts.

public boat access

Push gun Harpoon and "bomb" for whaling.

Unfortunately, the only whale while we were there was this 12ft premature baby that was found dead in the water. It was still pretty neat to see, though.

I love kids ministry days. From Crown to mask.

Airport Taxi. Lindsay with Chenelle and Reanna.

"Velvet." We saw her during our layover in Nome. Only in Alaska.
